Daring to be different
- CCAA's public art program, Growing the Arts, was launched in January 2006, on the occasion of our 75th Anniversary. Seventy-five planters were designed and painted by local artists (many of them CCAA members) and were placed at different sites throughout Chester County, Pennsylvania. The sheer range of sites - in front of commercial establishments, city halls, in parks, at transportation stations, in front of apartment complexes, at recreation centers, next to libraries, to name a few – helped to foster community awareness and encouraged the public's role in appreciating and supporting the arts. This community project was solely created and executed by CCAA, and remains critical to our mission in encouraging community connections and discussions among cultural institutions in our larger community.
- CCAA's participation in the 2006 and 2007 Philadelphia Flower Show was a first among local arts organizations. Not only did CCAA reach out to new audiences, but we unexpectedly earned top awards both years in the horticultural “container division.”
- As part of its mission to make art accessible and to form collaborative projects between the business community and other nonprofits organizations, CCAA is a member of several local groups. They include the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, the Arts and Business Council of Greater Philadelphia, the West Chester Chamber of Commerce, and the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry.
