William Ewing

Still-Life by William EwingWilliam Ewing is teaching a special workshop this fall on painting methods that were used in the 17th & 18th centuries to make a still-life or portrait painting in the studio. The methods involve four distinct and separate layers of paint known as Discovery, Dead Color, Working Up, and Retouch. Some other areas of concentration will be Toned Grounds, The Golden Section, and the study of Values. The objective of the work shop will be to complete a painting in the most direct, simple and economic way, while learning a clear understanding of the painting process and achieving outstanding results.
