Artists havecreated works on paper for centuries, but until this century, the term has typically been confined to collage and graphic media such as illustration and printmaking. In the past decade, Dennis has turned to oil on paper to further his exploration of the abstract landscape. This class will be of particular interest to artists who have worked on canvas but who want to discover a new look through the medium of paper. This class will include short demonstrations, showing the effects of brush strokes on paper as well as discussions on the history of oil on paper and the types of compositions that can be achieved through this direct an immediate way of painting. The class will focus primarily on using the landscape as a starting point to developing, abstract works, although still-life will be also available. Teens 16+ are welcome. Materials will be discussed during the first class.
